A mission is a church community with a clear calling to worship God, form disciples, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a particular place. A mission may be smaller or newer than a parish, but it is still a real worshiping community of the Church, gathered around Scripture, prayer, sacrament, pastoral care, and Christian fellowship.

A mission is not simply a program, project, or temporary gathering. It is a church with a sending heart. It exists to proclaim Christ, welcome people into the life of the Church, serve its neighbors, and grow into the fullness of its calling.

At Saint Jude Anglican Mission, we understand our life in this way. We are an Anglican Christian community called to be a faithful presence of prayer, worship, teaching, and service. We gather to worship God reverently, to be formed by Holy Scripture and the sacraments, and to share the hope of Christ with those around us.

We are part of Missio Mosaic, a missionary movement of churches, ministries, and clergy serving across the United States and the world. Missio Mosaic exists to support community-focused churches that, though often small, can do more together through shared ministry, shared resources, accountability, encouragement, and common values.

This vision is deeply shaped by the Celtic missionary spirit. Each church is seen as a kind of monastic outpost in the middle of daily life: a place of prayer, stability, hospitality, and witness. We do not withdraw from the world, but seek to live faithfully within it, sharing the Gospel in tangible ways and bearing witness to Christ in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities.

Saint Jude Anglican Mission is also connected to the wider Anglican family. We are part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, standing within the historic faith, worship, and order of the Anglican tradition. Our missionary work is overseen by an Emissary Bishop in the United States and an Anglican Bishop in Kagera, Tanzania, reflecting both the local and global nature of our mission.

In short, a mission is a church sent into the world with the love of Christ. It is rooted in worship, formed by Scripture and sacrament, strengthened by prayer, and called to serve. That is who we are at Saint Jude Anglican Mission.
